Online Birthday Parties and the Cyclone


So apparently these are a thing nowadays. I know I haven't been posting very frequently recently but that's because I've been busy organizing one myself. I planned a birthday surprise for my friend whose not from my school, so I had to gather 11 of her friends who I barely knew to plan it with me. 

The struggles were REAL. 

Communication and cooperation between teenagers is a huge task, believe me, I write with experience. We teenagers are lazy especially when it comes to sending some photos or videos, but there is that one person who has laziness in their DNA. Even if you start planning 15 days before the person's birthday, that person will send the picture for the video or collage 25 minutes before the zoom call. 

Don't even get me started on WhatsApp groups, these only work if the other people are willing to reply to the plan, I mean isn't that how it's supposed to work? There'll be that one person who never replies, NOT A SINGLE MESSAGE, only reads the messages. It's like this person is working for a secret agency or is an undercover cop and reports the plan to their bosses or chances are that they are main source of how the birthday person finds out about the surprise. 

Technical difficulty or WiFi problem is the best excuse anyone could ever give as you cannot object it because of benefit of doubt though we are at least 85% sure that the person is lying. 

The amount video calling apps we can use is ridiculously A LOT. But each has its own specialty. Though we had so many choices for screen sharing it was hard to find an app, because it would always be that one of us had some audio issue. 

Executing the plan was NOT easy, trust me, you have to have a masters degree in patience to keep it together. 

But honestly, jokes apart, I never thought I'd be saying this, but virtual birthdays are fun! 

And of course, the cyclone! I didn't really think it was coming since this exact same situation had happened last year. This time apparently it had reached Alibaug but I guess even the cyclone realized that Covid- 19 was enough torture for us...

The Family Saga

This lock down  has been rather great, except for the fact that I couldn't go out and meet my friends. But let's face it, haven't we all found a new hobby or maybe started doing something productive which we never thought we'll like? My family has been very productive, and that includes my grandma starting the TV exactly 10 seconds before Mahabharata starts. My mom, who rarely cooked, has become the next master chef. In the last few days, my house has become a restaurant with different types of cuisine everyday. We have had Maharashtrian, Punjabi, Italian Continental and even chaat. Although the one thing that came free with the cooking was my mom's exceptionally lame jokes! Trust me, you do not want to hear those jokes.
